Dr. Sean Ormond, M.D. is a dual board-certified physician specializing in Anesthesiology and Interventional Pain Management. With a deep commitment to helping patients regain their quality of life, Dr. Ormond employs a comprehensive and individualized approach to pain management.
He completed his anesthesia residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where he distinguished himself as Chief Resident, demonstrating leadership and clinical excellence. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in Interventional Pain Management at Rush University in Chicago, Illinois, where he refined his expertise in minimally invasive procedures and cutting-edge pain relief techniques.
Dr. Ormond believes in a patient-centered philosophy, emphasizing traditional, evidence-based pain management approaches as the foundation of treatment. However, when conventional methods do not provide sufficient relief, he seamlessly integrates advanced interventional techniques, regenerative medicine, and a multidisciplinary approach to achieve optimal results. His goal is not just to manage pain but to address its root causes and restore functionality, allowing patients to return to the activities they love.
As the founder of Atlas Pain Specialists in Phoenix, Arizona, Dr. Ormond is dedicated to offering state-of-the-art treatments for chronic pain conditions, including back pain, neuropathy, joint pain, and complex regional pain syndromes. He remains at the forefront of his field, staying up to date with the latest advancements in pain management to provide his patients with the highest level of care.

Katherine Gaitan
PA-C
Katherine Gaitan has been working in healthcare for over 10 years. She has extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings and spent her first few years in healthcare working in the Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical unit. Upon graduation from PA school in 2016, she began working in Dermatology where she gained extensive knowledge on various procedural skills and injections. She then moved on to Pain Management in 2019 and has been in the field since. For the past 5 years she has worked in diverse outpatient clinical settings diagnosing and treating a wide variety of patients from all spectrums of pain.
Katherine is very passionate about getting her patient’s out of pain and gaining back their quality of life. She believes preventive care is key. She strives on being thorough with her patient’s and incorporating all necessary treatment modalities to giver her patient’s the best care possible.
In Katherine’s spare time she enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling. She is an avid kayaker, enjoys hiking, and is always interested in trying new restaurants. Katherine also enjoys attending musicals and going to shows at The Phoenix Symphony. She has been a volunteer at The American Red Cross as well as Habitat for Humanity for many years.
Katherine is board-certified by the National Commission of Physician Assistants and licensed by the Arizona Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants as well as the Maryland Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Allie Ernst-Amador
FNP-BC
Allie began her career as an RN in 1998. Her love for caring for her patients and her quest for more knowledge led her to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with a minor in community health education Magna Cum Laude at Northern Arizona University in 2005. She then continued her education and earned a Master’s of Science in Nursing with a public health focus in 2008 and a post-master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner in 2013 at NAU. For fun, she obtained a post-master’s degree in Public Health in 2021. Allie has served as a maternal-fetal nurse, nurse educator, and a school nurse for over 15 years. As a board certified nurse practitioner, she has been in physical medicine, pain management, and primary care. Her diversity in practice focus has helped her in providing the best care available to meet the needs of all populations. Allie believes in a holistic approach to management of pain conditions. A holistic approach focuses on a person’s wellness and not just their conditions. This includes empowering individuals to take charge of their own health through knowledge and education.
Allie spends her free time reading, flying single engine aircraft, playing video games, taking classes, snow skiing and spending quality time with her husband and her adult boys.
